Digital Solution 1 - Budget Solution for anyone

One of the simplest ways of getting your message across, is to create your messages within images, with an image design program like Corel Photo Paint, Photoshop or simular. These images can then be loaded onto a memory card like a Compact Flash/Secure Digital or Multimedia Memory Card. These can then be loaded into a Memory Card TV Viewer! These then play out your images in the order you wish onto your monitor or TV display. Some photo viewers even allow Powerpoint style wipes and fades between transitions, to help catch the eye of your intended audience. Big bonus for this solution is not just cost, but also you don't need to leave a PC on all day/night to play out your messages!

Some Photo Viewers are generally intended for connecting to a normal or LCD TV, so if you want to connect a Photo Viewer to a VGA monitor, then a simple Video to VGA converter will help you get the signal across!

Digital Solution 2 - Want to use PowerPoint from a Computer onto 1 local LCD Display

It may be obvious to some, but to others, just where do you start? Well a copy of Microsoft's popular as ever PowerPoint may help! When installed, PowerPoint offers a range of presentation options, you can even embed video clips and surround the content with your company logo, bullet points or message you are looking to get across. If you intend to leave your presentation running most of the time/day or night, then a simple budget tower/desktop PC will also help. With a new and very affordable PC you can put your trust into the fact it will work, also no doubt have the benefit of a manufacturers warranty too. Why risk a secound hand PC, when new are so cheap!

If you do intend to keep it on, then a further simple addon would be to invest in a Uninteruptable Power Supply, UPS for short. This will keep your PC running should you have a short power blackout and keep your presentation running, unless of course a prolonged blackout lasts for several hours. This means when the power comes back on, you or your staff don't have to remember to start Powerpoint again.

LCD display? Well depending on your use, you need to decide on what size you need. Also remember the bracket or mounting kit when choosing your display. Flat screen displays usually use a mounting method known as VESA to allow a bracket to fit. Make sure that the monitor you choose is VESA wall mount compliant. It should help when you are sourcing an affordable bracket.

Digital Solution 3 - I just want to show Digital TV, Live News or your own Video Content/CCTV

If you are running a presentation from a PC, then obviously, the computer used will need to be left on while the presentation is running. If this seems excessive for the presentation you intend to play, then why not consider a free standing TV Box with a VGA or DVI out? A fairly overlooked device that offers several options for your digital signage solutions. Firstly, they allow you to convert your monitors or projectors into a TV. Some TV Box tuners offer either Analogue or Digital TV. New units now offer Hybrid (Analogue and Digital TV in one) solutions too. With a Hybrid or Analogue Box, they usually provide composite (yellow rca) video inputs. With these you can hook up say, a CCTV camera, DVD player, DVD Recorder or even your SKY TV to view on your LCD or Projector.

With the arrival of Digital TV, you can now benefit from playing 24 hour Live news from the likes of SKY or BBC News 24 too. No subscription required, just make sure you are in an area where you can receive digital TV and that you have a quality wideband TV aerial. Also make sure you have a suitable TV licence, should you wish to play TV at work, school or in your retail shop.
